MBA participants have access to a portfolio
of leadership development activities that
are designed to develop and nurture effective
and successful global leaders. Leadership
skills are developed at the individual, team
and organizational levels throughout the 15-month
program. In addition to the two core leadership
courses outlined below, extensive instructional
and conceptual content to hone leadership
skills is also provided throughout the curriculum.
Leadership and
Managerial Skills is a core class taught
during the first residential session and truly sets
the stage for enhancing leadership and managerial
skills. It combines comparative (East-West)
sociological and psychological perspectives
on management to provide an understanding
of the imperatives of managing complex teams
and organizations.
Strategic Leadership
and Strategy Implementation builds upon
and enhances participants’ skills
and is designed to address several fundamental
aspects of leading complex organizations,
placing particular emphasis on developing
well-aligned, high performance organizations
and the challenges of leading change in
organizations. The primary goals of this
course are to enable students to develop
an organized point of view on strategic
leadership and focus on the key competencies
identified as essential for development
of a successful leader, including self and
social awareness, self management techniques,
and building and managing effective relationships.
Creation and development of a Leadership
Map serves as a developmental blueprint
for participants as they progress through
the class. Personalized assessments are
undertaken with each participant and individual
detailed feedback is provided. Examples
of assessments include: Emotional Intelligence
View 360 (a multi-rater feedback assessment)
and StressScan.
